Sheryl L. Newman serves as Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Deputy General Counsel of Lender Processing Services, Inc. (NYSE:LPS). As CCO, she is responsible for managing an enterprise-wide compliance organization that develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure LPS’ compliance with applicable legal requirements and operational controls. She is also LPS’ primary point of contact for interfacing with regulators, enforcement authorities and other third parties with respect to compliance-related matters.
In her role as LPS’ Deputy General Counsel, Sheryl will provide counsel and advice, along with General Counsel, to senior management of LPS on a wide array of legal matters, including securities compliance; commercial litigation; employment and labor issues; and regulatory compliance.
Sheryl has served as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel since February 2011 and previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Litigation Officer to LPS. Prior to the spin-off of LPS from Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (FIS) in July 2008, Sheryl served as Vice President and Associate Division Counsel for FIS. She joined FIS’ parent company, Fidelity National Financial (FNF), in 2004, as Associate Division Counsel. Her primary areas of emphasis in these positions included providing legal counsel to management regarding corporate and commercial transactions; negotiating contracts; and overseeing commercial litigation and regulatory issues.
Before joining FNF, Sheryl worked at Norwest Mortgage in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was in private practice in New York and New Jersey. Sheryl is a member of the New York Bar, New Jersey Bar and the American Bar Association.
Sheryl received a Bachelor of Arts in economics and finance from McGill University in 1987 and a Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law in 1990.
