Elliot Schrage

Elliot Schrage is ExecRank's Top Chief Communication Officer for 2012. Mr. Schrage's experience managing Public Relations for some of the largest companies in the world and his performance navigating Facebook's IPO and bringing one of the world's most popular companies even further into the public spotlight have propelled him to number one on this year's list.

Previously at Google, as the Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs. Prior to joining Google, Elliot Schrage served foreign policy at the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations, and as an advisor to several global corporations on issues of corporate social responsibility. Immediately preceding, he worked as a senior vice president of global affairs for Gap Inc., the largest specialty retailer in the U.S., where he was responsible for directing the company’s government affairs initiatives and managed its global compliance organization. Before joining Gap, Mr. Schrage served as managing director of the New York office of Clark & Weinstock, a public policy and management consulting firm.

Since 1990, Mr. Schrage has also served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University Business School and Columbia Law School. He has published articles in the Harvard Business Review, The Washington Post and the Financial Times, among other publications.

Elliot Schrage received a JD from Harvard Law School, a Master in Public Policy (MPP) from the Kennedy School of Government, and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College. Also I studied at École Normale Superieure in Paris.
